Hyundai Ioniq 5 Open For Orders in Australia (Again)

With Hyundai opening the order books today for the new Ioniq 5 a new chapter in Australia’s electric car future begins. With retro 8-bit looks, a clean and fresh interior and a range up to 451km it is sure to be hit with Australian and NZ buyers.
There are only 400 vehicles in the initial allocation buyers will be have to be quick to secure one and get on the road. Two battery sizes are on offer being a 59kW “standard” range and a 72.6kW “long” range with a choice of rear or all-wheel drive. The Ioniq 5 is based on the new E-GMP platform which is shared with the Kia EV-6 which is yet to launch in Australia.
Charging is where the Hyundai sets itself apart with both 400v and 800v architecture on offer. This will allow charging from 10 to 80 percent in 18 minutes with compatible DC fast charging infrastructure.
Home charging is made even easier with the Zappi Smart EV charger being compatible with the Ioniq 5 allowing buyers to charge the vehicle with harvest solar energy from their home solar array.
