Why buy a used Nissan LEAF electric car?

 

The Nissan LEAF retains value and is often quickly snapped up when sold second hand. Whilst you may be able to secure cheap Nissan LEAFs for prices as low as $12,000, these often come with a degraded battery. This range of specially selected, used Nissan LEAFs from the Japanese domestic market (JDM) imports to Australia, are low-kilometre and in good condition for around $18,000.

What is the capacity of a used Nissan LEAF battery?

All batteries degrade, but the odd one degrades faster than the rest. Repeated DC fast charging or holding the battery at 100% charge for extended periods can negatively impact the battery cappacity of Nissan LEAFs.

​When purchasing a Leaf, personally check ask your importer to check the battery bars on the dashboard display. On the far right of the battery state of charge meter is a row of 12 bars with the numeral 1 at the top and the numeral 0 at the bottom. The lowest two bars will be red. AZE0 Leafs should have 12 bars. ZE0 Leafs may only have 10 or 11. You should avoid a LEAF with fewer bars, unless you don't require as much range.
