Great news! An EV black spot is no more!
The EVolution team were delighted to help Glen Innes Council deploy two charging stations. Conveniently located near their Visitor Information Centre on Church Street, Glen Innes, the stations are free for all EV owners. The install? An EO charger with a 22Kw EO universal EVSE plus a Tesla HPWC Charger.
The EO Universal 22kw EVSE EV charger was chosen primarily for it’s flexibility. Not only does it allow EV drivers to charge any car on the market, but it’s simple to use. Simply plug and play, or connect with your own manufacturer-provided charge cable.
What was interesting about this EV installation in the beautiful New England area of NSW, is Council originally wanted Tesla-only chargers.
However, with extra information from us about the number of EVs hitting the market that don’t carry the T-shaped logo, Council management quickly understood that they’re not the only car manufacturer targeting the Aussie and Kiwi market.
After that, naturally, they wanted to cater for all EV drivers (not just those that are able to drop $120k+ on a car) hence the rather smart-looking Universal EO charger.
Environmental Officer Ian Trow from Glen Innes Severn Council said: “Electric vehicles are coming and they are coming quite quickly. We expect the uptake over the next few years will be a lot more.”
You can see the full story of their install, including comments from round-Australia-by-EV pioneer Richard McNeall in the local paper article “Telsa enthusiast says charging point ‘puts Glen Innes on the map'”.
Australian Councils are leading the charge on EV infrastructure
Certainly, it was great working with such a forward-thinking Council who had the drive (pun intended) to encourage the uptake EVs in their municipality. Above all, we were pleased to provide important industry information to assist in infrastructure choices.
Importantly, this Council understands that EV ownership is on the rise. Accommodating EV infrastructure builds a sustainable and cost-effective personal and commercial transport future.
Likewise, if you’d like EV charging options for your municipality, contact us for an obligation-free discussion and quote. We’ve worked with Councils across Australia and New Zealand, and understand that the duration between initial discussions and delivery can be extended. However, we consult with all stakeholders to step through the proposal, approval and budgeting stages. In addition, we’ll work to your timelines and expectations.
